The combined wealth of the world’s richest 85 people is now equivalent to that owned by half of the world’s population—or 3.5 billion of the poorest people—according to a new report from Oxfam.

How many people do those 85 individuals employ? Funny that they don’t tell you that, huh?
Yes, that’s conveniently left out.
People working in teams achieve more, than working individually. A team needs a leader, so we have 85 leaders and 85 teams. I see no problem with all this state-of-the-things until the 85 have adequate merits.
Counting the poorest doesn't exactly set a high bar, does it?
The real threat to human dignity and cause of poverty is the governments that control nearly 100% of the world’s wealth.
And here comes Oxfam looking to give those governments even more control over it than they possess already.
When I was a child this sort of anti-wealth screed sounded sensible.
But then I grew up.
Of course, the left sees government as the only “team” one should be on.

Communism is a philosophy built on a foundation of envy. It falsely points to the "upper classes" as the cause of your own misery. Ironically, it manages to make someone else poorer without making you any richer.
The big problem here is that few know what “wealth” is... it is NOT money or income. A middle-class household with 2 moderate income-earners can have zero wealth if they are renting their home, are leasing their vehicles, have no stock portfolio, etc. A few hundred million people can easily fit in that mold, and have a net total wealth equal to that of your neighbor’s cat.

Actually, that $1.83T translates to $520 per person and would make an appreciable difference in their lives for a year or in some cases for as long as three years. The big difference would be what happened when that money was gone. I don't want to see what the world would look like for the poor (and these people would remain desperately poor) if we wiped out the wealth of our 85 most productive individuals.

How many of those 85 are associated with either the Democratic Party, The Soros Group, or The Open Society Institute?

Lets experiment- starting with Soros and working on down from that point.
