I was clicking through some links on Wikipedia last night, and stumbled across the "List of One-hit Wonders" in the United States." Amazingly, they have separate, detailed individual lists for each decade ( I've posted the links below..)I was astonished at how many there were, how many I'd liked, and many I'd pretty much forgotten; and I spent several hours on YouTube, reminiscing, and then downloading some of the tunes. So, enjoy.. if you have a favorite, opine below...
bookmark for a better time to go through! Thanks!
sorry bookmark. Shouldn’t posted to myself. Apologies.
However, the follow-up single "The Sun Always Shines on TV" also did quite respectably. It was a #1 song in the UK and a top-20 hit in the US. So however much it sucked (personally I didn't think it was that bad, but that's just me), A-Ha really don't qualify as OHWs.
I remember 10cc had 2 in the 70s

Men Without Hats (probably my favourite band from Montreal) had a number of singles that got respectable airplay on Canadian radio: "Pop Goes the World," "Moonbeam," and "Hey Men," for example.
Broadcast regulations in Canada that require a certain percentage of music to be Canadian content, has led to what's been called a music industry of "hothouse flowers"—many bands that thrive inside Canada's borders but are virtually unheard of anywhere else. (How many Platinum Blonde singles can you name?) I suspect the Internet has eroded this, somewhat.
Oh Mickey you’re so fine you’re so fine you blow my mind hey Mickey.
That’s exactly the one I was thinking of when I said, “a couple of others.
I like Pop Goes The World.
is that a one-hit wonder? Is that the song that goes “Video killed the radio star”?
No it’s a song by the group that did Safety Dance. It wasn’t big here.
They had a bigger hit with "Our Love's in Jeopardy."
I loved Melanie as a kid.
Loved her song “Lay Down”.
Men with Hats. Right.
No, cause she also had “Gloria.” Big song, used in “Flashdance.”
Arthur Brown: another huge Brit act that couldn’t make it over here.
Really good song.
Speaking of Canadian One-Hit Wonders....”Crash Test Dummies” with Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm.
I put that as the ringtone on my wife's phone and she loves it! (I'm the friendly stranger in the black sedan, (actually a truck) won't you hop inside my car).
How about Radar Love by Golden earring? I always called it music to drive fast by.
They also had “Twilight Zone (When the Bullet Hits the Bone) so they aren’t really “one hit.”
