Methinks the Krauts priority was to make sure they surrendered to the Americans, not the Soviets.

A lot more truth to that than many think.

A few years back when ‘they’ started saying the reason we ‘dropped the bigun’ on Japan was purely Racist, the reasoning being we never would have done that to Germany because they were White.
The idea was brought up that the ‘real’ reason we dropped it was because the Soviets were going to do to Japan and the Pacific like they did too Europe - either dominate it or split it up.

Patton was one of the few ‘name’ players who recognized what Russia was and MacArthur had China pegged correctly also.

M’Arthur was like a boulder rolling downhill in reguards to invading Japan. He had a plan for invasion and a date for J-Day. The estimate of one million Americans being killed in the invasion led Truman to drop the bombs.
