A rule of thumb is: where there is old money, you will find some connection to slavery. So of course it wasn’t hard to determine that Anderson Cooper was connected, in a familial way, to slavery. His bloodline is tied to the Vanderbilts, one of the richest families in American history. Cooper’s great-great-grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt – who was also Cooper’s cousin through inbreeding – was a tycoon who built his wealth from shipping and railroads. He also owned plantations: one in particular was in Georgetown, S.C., where Michelle Robinson Obama’s ancestor Jim Robinson, who was born a slave in 1850, worked.

In the early days, white folks feared a "negro uprising" and sought to repatriate blacks back to Africa. A lot of black willingly sold themselves into slavery to avoid going back to the motherland.
And, let us not forget that the first order of business for former slaves repatriated to Africa (Liberia) was to enslave the indigenous blacks.
Again, not an endorsement of slavery. Not a justification for slavery, because blacks did it too. But, if we're going to discuss historical events, let's discuss them in context.
I have a copy of Little Black Sambo and I cannot wait to read it to my granddaughter. It is a beautiful little book - the drawings are just lovely, the poetry is wonderful, and the plot!! - I mean, the tigers put the shoes on their ears! It’s just so charming. I think the next time I hear that crap from someone who has "suffered" because their ancestors were slaves, I'm going to tell them that if it were true, they ought to know enough to just shut up and obey the masters.

James Brown acknowledged that he was better off growing up in American than in Africa and that despite what happened in the past to his ancestors, his opportunities were greater here and he was grateful for it.

It’s the demand that people who lived hundreds of years ago in very different civilizational standards confirm to our beliefs. It’s the worst kind of pointless stupidity and serves no purpose excerpt as a modern political axe to grind against certain targets.
Besides which the tactic is invariably used by the political left to attack historical Western Civilization, EVEN THOUGH THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY IS A 100% WESTERN IDEA. Historically the idea that all slavery is wrong is incredibly new—it simply did not exist in any coherent form before the late 18th / early 19th century Europe and America. The ugly fact that the left hates to admit is that IF IT WERE NOT FOR WESTERN COLONIALISM, IF EUROPEANS HAD SIMPLY LEFT THE REST OF THE WORLD TO ITSELF, CHATTEL SLAVERY WOULD CONTINUE UNABATED TO THE PRESENT DAY—everywhere but in the West.
