Dave Madden -- who played "The Partridge Family's" aggravated band manager on the 1970s TV show -- has died after a long illness at age 82 ... TMZ has learned.
Madden played Reuben Kincaid on the show ... who was often bedeviled by the antics of the Partridge kids, particularly Danny, played by Danny Bonaduce.
Dave's former agent tells TMZ ... he died of congestive heart and kidney failure early this morning.

I also remember Dave Madden for his confetti antics on “Laugh-In.”
Earlier today I read that Russell Johnson, who played The Professor on “Gilligan’s Island,” had passed away as well. That’s two 1960s sitcom stars gone in one day.

I met him once, when I was in Hollywood (don’t remember why).
He was a very nice guy, he sat down with us for a minutes then went on his way.
RIP Dave Madden

I wrote him a letter once. When I was about 9 years old back in 1971. I wanted to join the Partridge Family and was hoping that he could send the Partridge Family bus to my home to pick me up so that I could travel with the band and hang out with Danny.
All I got in response was a canned invitation to join the Partridge Family fan club and a 8x10 glossy of Keith Partridge.
It was my Ovaltine moment and I was more cynical about the world from that day on.

The amazing thing, honestly, is that we are all stamped with a fairly similar expiration date. Sometimes it comes way too early, sometimes extraordinarily late, but within the context of where we are lucky enough to live (i.e. first world vs. third world), our lives are amazingly and soberingly finite.
And, to use the analogy that I'm sure many here have heard, life is like a roll of toilet paper - the closer to the end you get - the faster it goes.

Well, Madden did have a prominent role in “Camp Runamuck” (1965-66). For what it’s worth.

He was also a semi-regular on “Alice”, playing one of the patrons in Mel’s Diner.

The Professor and Reuben the same day.??? Omg, someone else from the 60s shows will be dead by midnight! Tick tock! Who will it be???
Peter Tork, Mary Tyler Moore, Richard Dawson, Donna Douglass, and many others must be loosening their collars and checking their temperature about now!
RIP to Mr. Madden.
