I was a member of the 44th at Ellsworth. Our guests from Vandenberg always gave us high grades for readiness.
Too bad they got rid of the 3901st. The dumping of all things SAC was a portent of the trouble now.
Riding the pony while in the MPT was an occurrence I watched from the cab now and then I do not recall ever knowing someone cheating on a T1 or Codes test.
From waht I hear in the field today the morale is so much worse than the 70s and 80s when I pulled Alerts. It seems the squadrons pull the crew members in for additional duties and make-work on most of their days off during the month. The complaints are they may have just one or two days off each month.
I was an assistant ops officer in the 66th, chief of ops/plans and an Ops Controller in the old 4th ACCS from 85-90. One of my best assignments.
