You’re welcome. I had watched this a few weeks ago on YouTube without subtitles, so I knew it was there.

The average annual salary in 1955 was 729 pounds, so 80,000 was quite a nice sum

I really liked this movie. One of the tightest and yet enjoyable scripts I’ve seen.
I’ll be watching more of these old movies.

Good. I’m always glad if one of the films I post links to results in someone seeing it for the first time and enjoying it.
SPOILER(Did you figure out that Marlene Dietrich was planning the brunette cockney wench with the scar before they revealed it?)

To: ReformationFan
No, I did not, I slightly suspected it for a but pushed the thought aside.

When I first saw it, I think I either figured out that or was at least suspicious that Dietrich was playing both parts but that the film would never reveal for sure. I thought they would end it with us wondering if they were both the same woman but never make it clear.

To: ReformationFan
That would be an interesting ending too

Trivia: according to imdb, for her dual role Dietrich was sure she would win an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for this movie but didn’t.
