“All returned vehicles are completely gone through before being rented to the next customer.”

BWAHAHAHahahahaha... Very funny.

Yeah. Like the one I brought back after 300 yards (didn’t make “miles”) with a flat tire. Sure they check ‘em. (Smelled like vomit as well.)

‘s OK, though — they gave us a nice upgrade (after I pointed out the flat in front of a bunch of other customers).

Folks; if you rent a car, check contents and CHECK THE DAMAGE against what is listed on the contract. (Found problems there also.) I check the trunk, etc also...

I've been renting cars for business and vacation for 20+ years and never had an experience as you describe. Cars have always come to me spotless and and good working order. I also see how hard the people there work to turn the cars around. They have it down to a science.

At the top tier (Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc.), the competition is fierce and they cannot afford to piss off their customers with poor service. In fact, the car rental industry has immensely improved their customer service over the years. I remember in the early 1980s having to stand in lines for hours before I got my car along with a ton of paperwork. Now I get off the plane, walk to my pre-assigned parking space and I'm driving out of the airport with my car less then 10 minutes after getting my luggage. This industry has improved by leaps and bounds.

You must be renting your cars from some second-tier outfit.
