I would seek better cover to “rest”.
I wondered about that too. It isn’t a normal addition to the Manpack radio. It must be a local unit mod to improve radio coverage or clarity or some such.

I can hardly believe that. I was engineering manager for Talla-Com on that project. We built 45% of the SINCGARS radios. There is nothing a local mod can do to improve performance. Believe me it is as optimum as it can possibly be. The body of the radio is like a collection of cylinders and the SINCGARS is a rectangular box. This is something completely different. I suspect it’s a GPS with a few extra features.
That’s what I was thinking a sniper on the building would have him in plain site or course they could have cleared it.
