The home is quite unimpressive. Actually it’s on the tacky side. If I was going to build a $4 million medieval style home, that would not have been what it looked like.

Very sad, but I'm at least happy that there was no loss of life. That said, this is telling:
"Because the two-storey home was set back from the road, in five acres of land, and didn't have a sprinkler system, the firefighters struggled to control it.
A fire hydrant that was on the property didn't have a large enough supply of water to tackle the flames, WCPO reported."
I call that very bad planning.

... rock don't burn!!
"... 22-room stone-built mansion." Unless it was a misprint, and they meant the contractor was named Stone.
BTW, didn't QEII suffer a devastating loss in one of her rock/stone castles a decade or so ago?
From Les Visiteurs:
"Jacquasse, look how they changed our beautiful castle!"
"Windows galore! We're defenseless!"
"A godsend for the Visigoths."
"And the Huttes."
"Pray that the dungeon is intact!"

The cost of upkeep and stuff is likely prohibitive, those peasant workers want to be paid these days...

Somewhere Frank Loyd Wright is smiling.
Um, doesn't his nifty at first "water house" have problems caused by the water?

If I had that kind of money I’d make sure as few people knew about it as possible. My biggest expense would be in property where I would plant a modest home surrounded by a high fence and electronic security. I’d continue driving decent used cars.

1992 Windsor castle burned.
True, rocks do not burn, but what is inside does

That was my first thought, Doc.

something tells me if they had 4 mill to spend on a castle, they have another 4 mill for a 2nd castle.

Thats what I never understood, why someone would want to live like that? Conspicuous consumption.

Its like living in a hotel with no guests, just creepy. Exactly. Get a nice house on the water, or in the mountains. I don't get the empty room thing.
