Why report it then? The aircraft made no evasive maneuver, so there was no discomfort for passengers. Reporting these sightings gets nothing but negative response, like the foolishness you posted. So why report it if they were actually drinking and ‘hallucinating’?

Flight crews on commercial airliners fly a lot, obviously, and while they tend to be too busy to just stare out of windows, thanks to their number of hours in flight see more UFOs (in the basic sense of unidentified) than perhaps most people do. Used to be the FAA had a form to file for UFO sightings, but doing so generally led to grounding, so few got filed.
That said, I’d be curious about any ground-based sightings of large, long-lived meteorites in the area below the encounter.
