Until this morning at 5AM
We've had to get the kids in out of the snow riding their bicycles at -30.
Eleven below isn't so bad in these parts, but we're geared up for it, too.
It was colder in the eighties and nineties, too. The media have short memories.
Stay warm everyone. Watch those space heaters and fireplaces ... !
I USED TO have fun in it ... coasting and all that, but now I'd rather sit by the fire with a cup of coffee and read FreeRepublic or watch the non-stop, all day long ... judge shows on TV
Never knew there was so much crap on daytime TV until this year.
When the snow makes squeeching noises (kinda like styrofoam peanuts) underfoot, and the first breath in puts frost in your nostrils, it's about twenty below, or maybe a mite colder.
When my youngest grandson was born in Ft. Riley Kansas in early February, the thermometer registered -10. My rental car had heated seats and Mrs. Cobol2Java & I were glad for them! :-)
Regardless, 40 below, is 40 below (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
link to it. I can’t see it.
I don’t spend as much time out in it as I used to. I’d rather play with the great-grandkids...inside.
The current temp here in north central WI is -23 ° F with a projected high for the day of -6 ° F. Yesterday our high for the day was -17 ° F. Wind chill currently -51 ° F. We’ll finally start to warm up tomorrow (Wed) when temp goes above 0 ° for the first time since Sat.
I went through basic at Great Lakes Oct 25, 76- Dec 20, 76. Several times marching in formation and uniform of the day was suspended due to extreme cold temps. Chief told us put on all you have and get to the mess hall as best you can. When I came home after basic training for Christmas the lakes here in East Tennessee were frozen over at least a foot in places. I haven't seen that happen before or since. I went back up there in Jan 77- mid Feb 77 for more training and it sure wasn't any warmer LOL.
Gee....I didn’t know they had digital thermometers in 1890 that were accurate to at least 0.01 degrees Fahrenheit (to read 0.1 degrees F accurately, you’d need a meter that had an order or more accuracy, conservatively), or is it just those old times back then were better at reading the scales on mercury thermometers? Hmmmmm.....
When all’s said and done, the extent of temperature range on that graph is just 1 degree F. Hardly meaningful, or honest, at that.
GWMA ( global warming my ass)
You GUTT'A be shittin' us !
Well sorry about the HUGE butt picture, thought I had size tags in it... It was a picture of my Kitchen windows this morning... frozen solid
Sittin’ here in SW PA at -9. Do remember on the mountain going to -20n or so pretty often. Supposed to hit a high of 3 whole degrees today. Might have to turn on the air conditioner.
Thank God the Obama family is safe in Hawaii.
Meanwhile, -13 here in Indianapolis.
Been without power since 1 pm Sunday, running generator (gas furnace).
Fine and dandy!
I’m in Indiana County. It’s -11 here as well. Got bundled up like I was in Alaska just to take the dog outside.
