Oh my goodness!There actually IS a thing called a "pea knife"!
And a canon of British etiquette which says that the only item of food which one may be permitted to eat from a knife, is the English pea!

Mine is a bit more ornate than that. The holes down the center are rounded.... and it seemed to me that the peas might just fall through! It was given to me by my great uncle when I was a child. We had a discussion of this tool, and I didn’t believe him either that there was such a thing, or that it was acceptable.
