Oats is a not a GM crop, with no plans for any on the horizon according to GMO-compass.org so that pretty much makes General Mills a no talent publicity whore.

Exactly, on the oats. Now, I want to see them do the same with corn flakes.

I think they call this a “marketing conceit”... like saying a car is upholstered in “rich Corinthian leather”, when there is no such thing as “Corinthian leather”. If the public is silly enough to buy into a whole lot of nothing, the marketing people are more than willing to feed it to them.
