Understand - the ONLY thing Iodine supplements can protect against is I-114, Iodine 114, a product of SOME nuclear fission events.
So sort of pretend that radiation is light. Iodine supplements protect you against blue radioactive light, but not green or red or yellow or purple.
But as it turns out, if you get poisoned by the blue light, it’s lights out! (It’s very deadly compared to other types)
Thanks for the clarification about the types/colors of radiations - helped make more sense of it.
You have no idea what you are talking about. The iodine in the KI molecule dissociates as an ion, is taken up by the thyroid gland, saturating the gland, thus "blocking" uptake of any subsequent iodine that you are exposed to. The thyroid gland cannot distinguish between the different isotopes of iodine. KI will block all isotopes of iodine. BTW, the half life of 114-I is on the order of a few seconds, so thyroid cancer directly from this isotope is impossible. It will be decayed into its daughter isotopes well before it even gets into your body.
