We were just talking about him the other day - why wasn’t his name being bandied about. Guess he was under the radar.

Congrats on the j.o.b. Coach Smith!

He couldn’t get it done in Chicago. Maybe he’ll have better lick with the Bucs.

What irony! They hire a coach who lost a Super Bowl to a former Bucs coach fired by the Bucs.

They could do worse, and have. I read somewhere that Lovie will bring on the Vikings’ fired coach as defensive coord.

Let the ticket sales commence. The fans like him, hope the team does.

He should be able to focus on football now that he no longer has to campaign for Obama like he did in 2012.

In my “modern” football era I was originally a Tampa bay fan, because I always tend to go with the coach, and Dungy was their coach at that time. so, I still have a warm place in my heart for that team.

That’s exactly what I thought. Are they going to use Tony’s 4-3 Tampa-2 as well?

Lovie Smith is an outstanding defensive coach, and the Bucs have some great young talent on defense. All the ingredients are there for the Bucs to return to their Tony Dungy days as a defense-first team with an offense which ranges from mediocre to bad each year.

Uh... I think the Bears fired Lovie. Before that he was in St. Louis, not exactly a warm weather destination. It wasn't the cold weather that did Lovie in, it was three different offensive coordinators and a combination of Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, and Jay Cutler with no offensive line.

Green Bay has been blessed with two of the all-time great quarterbacks who are playing their careers consecutively. First they had Farve and now Aaron Rodgers. The closest the Bears have ever come to that was Jim McMahon, back in the 80's. Even so, with an aging and extremely banged up defense the Bears had a chance at the playoffs this year. Matter of fact, if it wasn't for a freak play on a dead ball run in for a touchdown, the Bears could have won against the Packers.

I thought Cutler played efficient football all year under Tressman. I liked what I saw and I have followed the team my whole life. The offense finally looked like an offense, unlike the awful efforts during the Lovie Smith era in Chicago.

I think the Bears will give the Packers a run for their money next year, Rodgers or no.

Maybe the Glazers have finally figured out they never ever should have let Tony Dungy get away.....much less run him off. Gruden was a fortunate opportunist.
