A woman has filed suit against the police department that injured her arm during her arrest and then ignored her increasingly poor medical state eventually costing her an arm.
Needham claimed that police surprised her while she was in the bathroom, tasered her and applied arms bars and wrist locks...
Needham spent one week in Allegheny County Jail, during which she asked to see a doctor 16 times. Belatedly, she was taken to a hospital, where doctors amputated her arm at the elbow.
Needham had a minor criminal record. Earlier this year, she plead guilty to resisting arrest, simple assault and disorderly conduct.
The lawsuit alleges cruel and unusual punishment, excessive force, battery and negligence. Needham is seeking $75,000 in damages.

Just got to love the *** damn state ;/
Yeah because the cops never do anything wrong.
They never anally probe old men in New Mexico for clenching their buttocks.
They never shoot dogs.
They never sexually assault more then 25 people in Wisconsin and take more than 2 years to investigate.
Never right?
Meanwhile despite all of these abuses, ruined lives, robberies, shootings, and broken families illegal drugs are available in every town in this country.
Thanks makes more sense that way.
$75,000? If I were her, I would seek $75 trillion and would not quit until I was awarded every single penny.
Some day... I don’t know when, these police are going to need US. With their continued abuse and militarization, many people are going to simply look the other way, when one of them needs help.
For what could be coming, there simply aren’t enough of them to maintain order when the SHTF. Nowhere near enough. It doesn’t matter how many federally paid for armored ‘toys’ and automatic weapons they have.
They are slowly but surely bringing it upon themselves.
The rough treatment and confinement caused Needhams left arm to develop compartment syndrome, a medical condition in which muscle tissue is injured and swells, cutting off circulation to a compartment of the muscle.
Deprived of oxygen and nutrients, the muscle tissue in the blocked compartment dies and becomes necrotic. The damage then spreads to other tissues. Left unchecked, compartment syndrome can cost limbs and lives.
The only treatment is a surgical intervention in which the muscles hard coating, the fascia, is cut open to relieve the pressure and swelling. In Needhams case, an infection invaded the necrotic tissue, which then spread throughout the arm.

Where do you get the idea that the cuffs had nothing to do with it? Just because she is in jail doesn't mean she wasn't entitled to medical care which could have saved the arm.
Yeah, the cops never shoot into vehicles, kill dogs and tazer people instead of I don't know, talking to the person. How many times have we all seen the gestapo ordering a suspect to do something while another gestapo officer is yelling different instructions. These thugs are out of control and your attempts to blame the woman for this are contemptuous.
The cops behind this need to lose their jobs, their freedoms and their pensions and be unemployable in any type of authority role after they get out of jail.
*I* care.
I wasn't invited!
(crying)
A million, maybe, but not millions! We need to rein in these ludicrous lawsuits, most of which are paid by you and me. We only know one side of the story here, and even though it sounds like she has been mistreated, we should NOT be advocates of such huge payouts. Common sense payments. She should be recompensed for the surgery and somewhat for the loss of limb. These days, the loss of limb is not a total loss of ever being able to create revenue for oneself.
We have a wonderful number of archaic laws. Just as a couple of examples:
The payout is to compensate her for the loss of her arm, not a minor inconvenience, a major problem.
Also, it should discourage the police from using gestapo tactics.
We should not have to pay for this though, it should come from the cops, that station’s budget and maybe they can stop buying military armor and vehicles.
Speaking of state run liquor stores, are there still drive in liquor stores around these days?
I think you have narrowed it down :>)
Not just dogs. How about cops shooting people in cold blood without provocation. This one was caught on tape.

Managing the estates of orphans is one duty of what is sometimes called Orphans Court, sometimes Probate Court, sometimes Surrogates Court, sometimes Chancery Court. The names vary all over the place, more so than any other court to my knowledge.
The basic duty is to manage trusts, wills, and estates (including those of orphans). Around here, they also issue marriage licenses and pistol permits, and in smaller counties they do traffic tickets. Marriage licenses I can see (sort of a new estate) but I think they just do pistol permits and traffic tickets because of what we all know flows downhill.
It should be noted the most important thing was accomplished: All cops and jailers got home safely at the end of their shifts.
It doesn’t matter what she was doing! Whatever it was shouldn’t have resulted in her being abused to the point of losing an arm.
Having been in her predicament in my misspent youth, I can tell you that handcuffs applied to tightly can cause nerve damage, cut off circulation, which if left on too long cause just the problem she experienced. Usually a bully with a badge thinks this is funny. The cop should be charged with whatever a good lawyer can dream up and sued along with his employer to the max. I forgot, the cop should join the ranks of the unemployed at the first possible moment. Just my 2 cents.
