A million, maybe, but not millions! We need to rein in these ludicrous lawsuits, most of which are paid by you and me. We only know one side of the story here, and even though it sounds like she has been mistreated, we should NOT be advocates of such huge payouts. Common sense payments. She should be recompensed for the surgery and somewhat for the loss of limb. These days, the loss of limb is not a total loss of ever being able to create revenue for oneself.

The payout is to compensate her for the loss of her arm, not a minor inconvenience, a major problem.
Also, it should discourage the police from using gestapo tactics.

We should not have to pay for this though, it should come from the cops, that station’s budget and maybe they can stop buying military armor and vehicles.

Compensated “somewhat for the loss of a limb”???!!

What is one of YOUR arms worth ?

Not everyone arrested is guilty, not everyone guilty even goes to prison, and despite the reality and the evident sadistic glee of some sickos who post here, prison rape ,prison murders, and beating are not supposed to be official punishments.Nor are loss of life or limb in local jails to be ignored.

Personally I suspect very few ,if any, jail inmates actually hang themselves.Who is going to notice which bruises are from the rough handling of an uncooperative prisoner versus those of a prisoner fighting the strangling sheet being applied by another inmate or a crooked officer. It is a too convenient way to dispose of people who might cause trouble for someone “important”
