I would call it an understatement as "a night to remember" for the parents of an 11 year old to spend New Year's Eve at Applebees for $1,000!!!

I think that "a night to forget" would be more likely.

I took my grown kids out for Christmas eve dinner at Applebees. It’s not always wonderful, but it really was great that night. Great! $95 for four before the tip. Appetizer platter, dessert for two, anything they wanted. Of course, we do not drink alcohol, guess that could have doubled the bill.

Wow they never did that before that I knew of. I worked in the early 90s at the TGI Fridays that was on 41st and Broadway. We had a limited menu after 9PM and shut the doors at around 10 so we did not go over our were limit for people inside. As people left more could come in. Made some CRAZY cash waiting tables back then. Left the city for good in 96 and never looked back.

Depends upon your priorities as this Applebees is on 42nd St very near Times Square and this meal cost is for an 8pm to midnight function rather than just a meal. Given the crowd control and early attendees, many of these restaurant goers may not be able to see the ball-drop, but they also may not freezing their rears either (mid to low 30s).

I wouldn’t mind going to NYC for a New Year’s Eve party. In fact, that’s at the top of my bucket list.

Best NY Eve party (well most expensive) was when a former vendor of ours (Siemens) rented out the entire Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and put everyone up for the night at the Hilton.

I CANNOT imagine what this would have cost. There were waiters with hoe-duervs everywhere. Several classical trio’s, quads and quintets everywhere. They had the coal mine running and the U-Boat was open. Open bars in every wing, and a dinner in the mail lobby area. Valet parking too! Which is crazy in that area.

It was the biggest extravaganza I have ever seen. This was in like 89-90.

I still shudder to think of the price tag of that NY eve party.
