The plant did not “blow up”.
It was flooded by a tsunami. Engines and structures that maintain a cooling system were either destroyed or severely compromised. The result is cooling systems failure.
Get your facts straight or those of us with nuclear backgrounds will eat your lunch.
There is no “radiation” from Japan sweeping across the western coast of North America. Radiation doesn’t “sweep” thousands of miles from its source.
The same bull shit claim was made last year and included statements that tens of thousands of people had died. Since I live in southwest Washington State I knew those were all lies.
Uhmmm the large concrete domes that turned to dust with a bang might count as “blowing up”.
Radiation moves far and wide. Boise Idaho reported the highest levels of radioactive iodine in their rainwater (above food or water safety limits but rainwater doesn’t have a comparable limit). The EPA reported Cesium 137 detected in Vermont: http://www.infiniteunknown.net/2011/04/09/us-epa-finds-cesium-137-in-vermont-milk-radiation-detected-in-drinking-water-in-13-more-cities/
But you can keep your lunch - I don’t want it.
I don’t need to be an expert to see that the benefits of a nuclear power plant are not worth the risk. Fukushima is verification of the bad economics of nuclear. I understand from your comment that your personal economics may have a vested interest in the nuke industry. That does not give your opinion much weight politically these days. If your opinion counted, San Onofre would be firing up instead of decommissioned.
Question, can we store the waste from San Onofre in you garage seeing as how it is safe?
Finally, using curse words is not a substitute for legitimate debate. I sympathize with your frustration but do hope we can hold to FR standards. Or should I look for a mod to decommission your post?
