I hope this works for you all.
One of the greatest stories ever told and a fine bit of cinema to boot.
Did Robert Ruarke write that?
No, apparently the only connection is that both films involved the British military in the late 1800s. The movie poster just reminded me of the 1964 film "Zulu".
In any case, I didn't know until now that the 1979 film, "Zulu Dawn", wasn't actually a remake of the 64 film, but rather a film focusing on the events which preceded those in the earlier movie. ie, The Battle of Isandlwana. I have both downloaded to my PC, but never really watched "Dawn" carefully. Knowing what I know now, I must watch it again.
"A prequel [to Zulu, 1964], Zulu Dawn, about the Battle of Isandlwana which immediately preceded the events of this film [Zulu, 64], was released in 1979. It was also written by Cy Endfield, and starred Burt Lancaster and Peter O'Toole."Zulu--Wikipedia
Thanks for that, and thanks to all the Kipling fans who visited this thread.
Good thread. I vaguely remember the “Zulu Dawn” movie...I will DL and watch it in light of ETLs info..
Aye mate...we met on the level and we part on the square.
