I can’t figure out what’s with Scorsese’s obsession with casting DiCaprio as the lead in ALL his movies lately. Seriously, this is the guy who directed Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, etc., etc. Just TRY to picture those movies with the teen heartthrob from Titanic in the title role. Yeah, DiCaprio in a mirror barking “Are you talkin’ to me?”

Tim Burton has a similar obsession with putting Johnny Depp in all his movies regardless of the story or characters, but at least in that case it’s a weirdo who likes working with another weirdo. To go from De Niro to DiCaprio and be thrilled with the casting change... Scorsese HAS to be doing some good drugs. No wonder he likes “Wolf of Wall Street”!

Could be worse... He could be promoting Jonah Hill as his lead.

To be honest with you, I may be the only human being in North America who never saw "Titanic," and thinking back, the only 2 movies I've ever seen Dicaprio in have been "Catch me if you Can" and "The Departed," and I thought he was pretty good in both movies. But like I said, my knowledge of his acting is pretty limited.

I don't think many people play "quirky" better than Johnny Depp, and yes, Burton has cast Depp in most of his movies, because most of his movies feature a "quirky" lead... Two really excellent examples of Depp, showing he can combine quirkiness and some pretty fine acting are "Ed Wood" and "Benny & Joon" (not a Scorsese movie.)

Actually, now that I think about it, I did see "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" many years ago, and it had both Dicaprio and Depp in it, and while I really don't remember the movie, I seem to recall I thought it was pretty good overall.

Looks like this director has gone from the Taxi Driver (DeNiro) to “Pajama Boy (DiCaprio), I guess he thinks that is what the public wants in their leading “man”.
