Tony Romo Out For Rest Of Season
ESPN ^ | December 23rd, 2013 | ESPN Staff

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will miss the rest of the season because of a back injury, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Monday.

Tony Romo overcame a back injury Sunday to rally the Cowboys past the Redskins, but he will not be able to play the rest of the season, a source said. The Cowboys (8-7) host the Philadelphia Eagles (9-6) on Sunday night, with the winner capturing the NFC East title.

Kyle Orton likely will get the start at quarterback for Dallas. Orton has 69 career starts and is 35-34. He hasn't started since the 2011 regular-season finale with Kansas City.

Romo said Sunday he would undergo an MRI on his back Monday but didn't believe the injury would jeopardize his availability for the Philadelphia game. Romo said his back, which was sore going into Sunday's comeback victory over the Washington Redskins, began to bother him after a hit in the first half.

"That triggered it a little bit," Romo said Sunday. "Whatever the kid did on that one play, it really sent something that didn't feel comfortable. But it's in a completely different spot than the back stuff I had last year, so that's a good sign." Romo had surgery in April to remove a cyst from his back and did not take a snap until the team reached training camp in July. Romo was limping as he carried out fakes on running plays.

In the fourth quarter, he appeared to be in trouble even more after spinning free from the pocket on a third-down throw to Miles Austin. Romo appeared to kick the back of his leg as he escaped trouble, but he did not miss a snap.

Romo could have a spine made of steel but with that swiss cheese of a defense hard to see da Boys stopping the high scoring Green Birds. But we shall see what we shall see.

Romo isn’t the greatest QB in the NFL, but without him, they have no shot.

At the very least, drafting a QB needs to be a priority for Dallas.

FWIW, Garrett just said Romo is “Day To Day”.

They’ll shoot him up with whatever painkillers they have to get him out there.

Now maybe the Cowgirls have a chance to make the playoffs.

Not if Da Iggles play like they did last night.

When Dallas really tries, their running game works. I say get rid of the expensive QB and receivers, hire a third string QB who has mastered the hand-off, beef up the O-line and get 2 good runners and run the damn ball 75 times a game. Or don't have a QB at all and just run the wildcat every play with an extra blocker in there.

Not at all, but they won’t be able to pin THIS one on him.

And in a way, I’m sad that Romo is out. I was looking forward to watching him fold like a cheap lawn chair on Sunday.

Kyle Orton is married to Carrie Prejean, former Miss California who was despised by Gaystopo. I am glad that her hubby is out earning a paycheck again.

Go Eagles! Score 100 points!

Re: Pard, you may need to go to the... backup early.

Yeah, big, maybe... Maybe, yet--

As per http://www.dallascowboys.com/ they say “Back Breaking? Reports broke Monday that Tony Romo was out for the season, but the Cowboys insist his status is “day-to-day” for Sunday’s division clash against Philadelphia.”

Plus:

Romo led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter capped by a touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray while fighting through a back injury that could put his playing status in question going forward, but Witten is still hopeful Romo won’t be lost for the season.

He said right now, though, all he can do is wait and see.

“A lot of times you lose sight of that, of what Tony’s all about, the toughness that he shows day in and day out, not only mentally but physically,” Witten said. “Just commend him for how he approaches it, and he’s resilient to find a way. He’s so good in those situations.”

Gadzooks, Tony played and won a game with a really bad back. As far as I am concerned... the man has gone above and beyond for the Cowboys--

So, all you Romo Haters can Kiss... My Shiny Metal Ass!
