I've always liked walking in the woods this time of year when the sun is at its lowest angle. The sun throws off a harsh light and the shadows are long - even at high noon! If I get too deep in the woods in mid afternoon, I have to rush back to my car before it gets too dark to see!
It's hard to go into the woods at the summer solstice because you will get eaten up by mosquitoes and black flies.
I do hope that more people go south of the Equator to live. If too many people live up here, the weight of them will eventually cause the earth to wobble. We need to balance things out just a little bit.
Because of peculiarities of the Earths inclination and orbit, the earliest sunset is not the day of the solstice.
In the northern hemisphere, the earliest sunset actually occurs on or very near December tenth.
Sunrise however, still gets later, until about January first.
Not to worry. Another of God's many loving provisions is our unique moon, which stabilizes the earth.
Don't get lost in the woods, and merry Christmas!
You could always move Rosie O’Donnell to even out the earth’s equilibrium. I understand her head has it’s own gravitational pull.
