Now the next thing we need to do, if they don’t reinstate Mr. Robertson, is boycott their advertisers as well.
$$$ Talks
Nice work !
The ownership of rights to TV shows can be complicated business. I’ve no idea what the sitaution is here, but I do know these things can be a bit convoluted. I would think that if A and E cancels, then they would lose rights based on that and yet they probably retain rights to re runs and syndication.
At this point, the Robertsons are so big they’ll be fine either way .
Thanks.
I'd love to, but such a thing is about as likely as America electing a write-in candidate for President.
I know many people who can quote sports stats going back for years, but they couldn't name the Justices of the Supreme Court to save their lives. Hell, most of them don't even know their own Congressmen.
In the cable universe, advertising is a rounding error. A and E, and MSNBC and others make tons of money just off their cable subsciptions, which all cable subscribers pay whether they ever watch or not.
I'm boycotting ESPN not because of politics, but because of a bias towards UConn.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the ESPN numbers, sports is a religion with guys, it’s over.
What if people boycott their duck whistles??
They own Duck Commander but not Duck Dynasty...
Remember the Dog, The Bounty Hunter which aired on A & E, yep the same one. Remember the scandal about Duayne saying a racial word. Well guess what, A & E canceled their show and CMT picked them up. So who knows what will happen. If CMT picks them up, mark my words they will wind up with a block buster show and a very large viewing audience. =)
There used to be laws that one company couldn’t own newspaper, TV and or Radio but I believe it was under Clinton’s overseeing that impediments like that were gotten rid of.
I could be mistaken but I’ve heard it rumored that 40 to 50 percent of employees at Disney are homosexual. Maybe just certain departments? I’m really glad this is occurring; long past time there is some either push back or discussion about this stuff and PC. Unfortunately it has been too long coming and now the left can’t help themselves as they are actually loving the idea of stomping out all dissenters and haters. Only more conflict lies ahead - I say bring it. Better than this shut up and know your place if you like your job and your life.
Willie Robertson is also one of the Buck Commanders:
http://www.buckcommander.com/buckmen/profile/8/willie_robertson.aspx
the irony is Walt Disney the man was a staunch Barry Goldwater loving conservative...
Well just like Knott’s Berry Farm, when the founder is gone so go their principles.
yeah, I heard someone else mention the Bounty Hunter example earlier today .
Time to hit them where it Hearsts.
Disney Corp is making record profits in just about every area of their business. Movies, tv, theme parks, even their cruise line is making money. Losing DD wouldn't even put a nick in their bottom line. They also have a history of being LGBT friendly and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they let DD go just to keep them happy. A&E may need DD but Disney doesn't.
Duck whistles.........Mmmmm
The Robertsons make the Duck Whistles, A&E is the bad actor here, not Robertson’s Duck Commander “Duck Whistle” business.
Correct. According to the first book written by Willie and his wife, Korie they were discovered on the Duck Commander show on the Outdoor Channel. They still have duck hunting shows on that channel. And Buck Commander is also their brand. It’s on the side of the building where their headquarters is and shown prominently on the show.
According to an article I read on another website tonight, A&E owns the intellectual rights to Duck Dynasty until the contract expires.
