Brother and I will be moving into our house at the end of the month and have a washer question. We've heard that front loaders have issues with smell and continual cleaning, so we're looking at top loaders. Anyone have opinions on the new HE washers versus the older agitator models? Thanks up front.
Even though intellectually I know that suds don’t clean, I don’t want to look into my washer and see dirty clothes agitating in clear water. Just don’t want it.
And I want to be able to stop the washer and open it...say, for instance, if I’m doing towels or underwear on a long wash and I want to add bleach.
In my earlier post I forgot to add tbat it literally took ALL EVENING to dry a load of sheets (two---for one bed) in my MIL's front loading dryer.
if you choose HE look up how to make homemade laundry soap. will save you hundreds per year.
Basic laundry powder:
Grate one bar Fels Naptha (I let ‘em dry unwrapped a week or two) 97 cents @ Walmart in the laundry section
Add one cup Arm&Hammer washing soda
Add one cup borax
Use one Tbl for normal load in a front loader.
