He had a sense of humor too ...
Loved him in My Favorite Year, where he played a parody of himself:

Yep. He was always one of my favorites. May he R.I.P.
And my very favorite line of his, from all his movies was from “My Favorite Year”: Panicking, when he found out that the show was being broadcast ‘live’; no multiple takes to get it right:
“I’m not an ACTOR, I’m a movie star.”
Surprised no one mentioned Man of La Mancha.
He was a wonderful Don Quixote.
At the time this movie first came out, I believe it was thought to be about an appearance by Errol Flynn on Your Show of Shows with Syd Caesar; and, the flunkie who was trying to keep him in check was a young Mel Brooks who worked as a writer for the show.
One of my favorite movies. “There’s ‘Out,’ and there’s ‘Out!’”
“Loved him in My Favorite Year, where he played a parody of himself”
Could have been of himself. The way I heard it, it was a parody of Errol Flynn.
Actually, a parody of Errol Flynn but he was, indeed, a wonderful actor.
Yes, he was a free spirit. He was saying something embarrassing or self-depreciating. He was never boring.
May he RIP.
