I used to deal with the self entitled type when I was a factory foreman. They assumed that just because they had an engineering degree, they would walk through the factory door and straight to the front office and it just wasn’t going to happen.

The best designer in the place got his engineering degree after working 30 years as a shop rat. After all that time he didn’t need the degree to do the job, he needed the degree to get the pay.

“He didn’t need the degree to do the job he needed the degree to do the pay”.....so true..and the truth is one you learn what your doing and then you go to school..you know the meat vs the bs filler in class

I was a high level engineering manager. My prime candidates had 2 major qualifications:

1. A BS degree in a hard field, math, physics, engineering, etc.

2. Several years of military service.

Gets rid of 90% of the dirtballs.
