Scott Walker: Republicans should focus on economic issues to take back the Senate
12/14/13

Posted on 12/14/2013 2:33:46 PM PST by AstralisLux

Asked how the GOP could win the Senate in the 2014 elections, Walker explained that Republicans must not be viewed as the 'party of no' as Democrats have tried to brand them. "As they're running for Senate, focus on the two key issues: an economic concern in our country, [and] there are still too many who are not coming through." Walker explained that Reagan's 1980 acceptance speech should be a model for the Republican Party to message for voters. "If you live in poverty, we want to lift you out,” he said. “We don't want to leave anyone behind. We need to embrace that across the board."

It says he opposes an Arizona style law. It does not say he favors open borders. Draw whatever conclusion you’d like, but our state was a mess before Walker. He’s done a great job here in a blue state

Walker Says Immigration Bill would be a huge distraction.(to him lecturing the national GOP base on what issues to run on)

Scott Walker did a good job for Wisconsin on many issues. Of course he was a better choice than the guy who ran Milwaukee as the founding city of the knockout game.

It is being debated whether he is a good national prospect if he can’t give a straight answer.

Id say he is for open borders of massive poor legal immigrants and do nothing on the current illegals.

I’d say you’re wrong about him being for open borders, bust he’s just not going to get into the middle of that discussion when there are bigger issues to discuss. Positive messages will win in 2016. If we have another weak candidate with no positive message, we’ll end up losing to Hilary or some other Dem

All the Republicans need to do between now and 11/2014 is work on their ads showing vids of their various opponents parroting obama’s lies about keeping your doctors, your insurance policies. Period.

Amnesty is going to be an issue in most GOP primaries even Gubernatorial ones.

I dont think it would be too much a stretch for some in LA to be confused to think loudmouth idiot Landrieu is more of a hardass than Bill Cassidy on border security.

Our message has to be vague, about lifting them our of poverty, because if we actually told them we’d create jobs for them, they’d vote against us..

The idiot GOP said the same thing in 2012 and got reamed. They need to get the WHITE VOTE. They need to hammer Obama on his illegal alien Aunt and Uncle, the ObamaPhone lady, and illegal alien rapists and identity thieves. Divide and conquer, as Obama did, but with the MAJORITY vote, while we still have it.

Wrong Gov. Walker. Pubbies should talk about freedom, liberty, and the amazing blessings that flow from free individuals who act with personnel responsibility. Pubbies should talk about people achieving their dreams. Pubbies should explain why lies, deciet, envy, theft, and tyranny are not only anathema all to America but to free people everywhere. And the pubbies must go after the poor brainwashed folks the dims enslave. Do this and pubbies will win in land slides. Fix the budget with the Paul Mack penny plan. Find waste, fraud and abuse in programs using continuous process improvement methodologies. Oh, one other thing FIGHT!!! KEEP YOUR WORD and the pubbies could be in power for decades.

Our message should be "If you live in poverty, we want to foster an environment that will enable you to work your way out of it."

Exactly! Encourage people to prepare themselves for when an opportunity comes along.

Thanks York. Having lived in the middle of the madness in Wisconsin, I can’t believe all the stuff people are saying about our Gov. that’s simply not true. Beyond befuddling is an appropriate description.

FReeper SoConPubbie is.

Actually, if you'll listen to Governor Scott Walker, he explains in his own words, that he is for a pathway to citizenship.

YouTube Link: Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, in his own words, endorses a path to citizenship for Illegal Aliens in July of this year.

Also you'll discover that Governor Walker, dependent on the day (much like Rubio, McCain, and even Rand Paul) is either for Amnesty or against it, dependent on who he is talking to.

Even McCain will tell you, without blinking an eye, he doesn't believe in Amnesty.

Well, then how about listening to Governor Walker, in an interview, in his own words state support for a pathway to citizenship, A.K.A. Amnesty:

Yea, that was right after he stated he was in favor of a pathway to citizenship, also known as, Amnesty:

You should see how much smaller Wisconsin public unions are after he decapitated them. The end result - smaller local governments across the state.

Why didn't he finish the job and decapitate the police and fire unions?

Another Wisconsin Liberal trying to give Conservatives lectures on economics

Scott Walker supports Illegal Alien Amnesty. Anyone who supports Amnesty supports expanding govt by at least 2 trillion dollars.

People are so fooled by Walker...who has done nothing to cut jobs of overpaid state level executives and admin...

Thank You again for posting Scott Walker’s pro Ammesty comments

The Walker-Philes are trying to set up conservatives again with a non-conservative Candidate. You cannot be for small government and Illegal Alien Amnesty

Walker limited the power of govt unions in Wisconsin....heck there are Democrat politicians wanting to do same. Wisconsin has already given us PhonyCons like Reniece Priebus and Paul Ryan...we do need another

Walker’s not really a small-government guy.

And that is relevant to the topic of the article in what way?

I get that many have found faults in all politicians, but I have trouble fathoming why the faults automatically trump any good/relevant opinions put out by these "flawed" politicians. Are you going to respond to the next Ted Cruz article with "He said nice stuff about Mandela"? Or the next one about Sarah Palin with "There wuz rumors that she was for amnesty"?

I'm starting to believe that many on FR really want us to finish losing the battle so chaos can take over - always quick with something negative about their side of the aisle and never anything worth looking at as a potential solution.
