I love the way the Japanese broke the bad news in a backhand way.

One way or the other, on or off the battlefield, Patton’s name seems to find its way into the news. I know that during this time, they’re in the throes of planning the D-Day invasion of Europe. I wonder how much of these news items about Patton leading to difficulties with his superiors were planned releases to confuse the Germans about Patton’s movements versus the location of the invasion forces. However, maybe not, since it would seem in the United States favor to keep a lid on Patton’s troubles so his whereabouts would be tied to the location of the invasion in the Germans’ minds.
