There’s also a word “tew” which means to work leather and its pretty close to the sound of “to” so maybe there are four of them.
That will make you a big looser. ;)
You’re right. I’ve used “tew” when playing Scrabble.
Another one, “then” and “than.”
To easy.
When’s the test on “then” and “than”?
My peeves:
“Height” ends with a “T” sound...not “th”.
It is “Lightning” not “Lightening”.
“Asked” ends with a “D” sound. “Asks” ends with an “S” sound. Neither ends with a “K” sound. I am not talking about the “axe” mispronunciation. That is another topic.
“Noone” is not the contraction for no one. There is no contraction for “no one”.
There is no “d” when you spell “refrigerator”.
Please do not pronounce “ancient” with a “k” sound in the middle.
Opportunity, not oppurtunity.
Sherbet is not pronounced Sherbert.
Told is not pronounced Toad.
Sorry - you lose!
Whether I watch the weather, I wonder which witch twitched?
Deer Teechur:
YOU’RE TEST B 2 HARD! LOL ^_^
Realtor pronounced real-a-tor.
Nuclear pronounced nu-ku-ler.
And, remember, a preposition is something you should never end a sentence with.
Me two.
Yes. Also, “elusive” and “allusive”.
Quoth the RAVEN nevermore—— Remember Affect Verb Effect Noun.
A hard one is ITS and IT’S.
I wonder if the to, too, two test was on an SAT, or a pre-college test. The way schools are now, I wouldn’t be surprised. OR, in the modern feely goody way of teaching, it doesn’t matter how you spell it— as long as you can convey the meaning-———— or some gobbly- gook like that.
“Noone is not the contraction for no one. There is no contraction for no one.
Did you mean to say there is none?
Robin Hood tore his leather jerkin off,
That there was a good one.
Realtor pronounced real-a-tor. Wrong
They had pickles made out of leather back then?
Cool.
;)
Never herd (LOL) that before. Now if I can remember which is which.
It's = it is. Hard because it seems "it's" should be possessive.
I don't know. Are you saying "none" is the contraction for "no one."
