WEST BRANCH, Mich. – The Michigan Education Association is going to arbitration to try to force the West Branch-Rose City school district to pay a former teacher who was convicted of molesting a student a $10,000 severance buyout.
Neil Erickson coverThe father of the victim is outraged, calling the union’s efforts on behalf of the sex criminal “ludicrous” and saying any school money due to the teacher should go to his son, who is “out there trying to make it in this world all messed up.”
Neal Erickson, a former math teacher at Rose City Middle School, was convicted this summer of raping a young student over three years, from 2006 to 2009, and sentenced to 15-30 years in prison.

In all reality the union doesn’t have a choice but to support the perv.
If the union refused to fight for the perv he could sue the union for failure to represent.
The union is legally obligated to represent its members. If they fail to represent him in a matter that is reasonably with in the contract they will loose in court should he sue.
As the local bumper sticker says: “Work union, live better.”

That may be, that the goonion has an obligation to represent its trash. I think its simpler than that, the Michigan Extortion Association sits on a huge pile of money. The MEA can easily spend well in excess of $10K to prove how tough it is. The MEA doesn’t give a damn about the kids or the parents of the kids, the kids and parents don’t pay direct dues to the goonion. The MEA, and all other teacher goonions, have a number of pervert filth in their ranks. The MEA, and all other teacher goonions are key components of the commun.....er, uh progressive movement. As such, they are determined to redefining normal and in their world such garbage as Erickson is normal, and in deed some kind of diety. The citizens as a whole are crap under the shoes of the teacher goonions just as they are under the feet of all public employees goonion or not.
I will agree with everything you say about the MEA and it is equally true about the NEA.
But considering that West Branch is a town of a little over 2000 people I rather doubt that is true of the local union.
I would guess that this case is tearing the town apart and it is probably got the local union officer’s tearing their hair out. This case would not be good for the teaching staff or the local union. Can you imagine being these teachers trying to push through a school funding levy anytime in the near future?
The union local officers do not want to be dealing with this anymore than Catholic diocese wants to deal with a pedophile priest caught in the act.

We’ve got a Jackson principal being extradited back from Indiana to face charges in a case where he was sharing child porn with a Columbia school district PTA chairman.
If it was my child, that would just about cover this teachers final expenses.
Why are they surprised? Do they live in a cave?
