I never said I was proud or ashamed. I am saying that it happened.

Give them a referendum, and let them pick. Want to be in the U.S. or an Independent nation.

Who do you mean by "Them"? Everyone who currently lives on Hawaii? Everyone who had an ancestor living on Hawaii when it was annexed? Pure blooded Hawaiian Natives? Which group of "Natives"? Are you going to DNA test them?

You are asking the ingredients of the vegetable soup to go reattach themselves to the plants in the garden. It does not work. Time has changed what might have be into what is. No going back.

As to your third concept, here on planet reality there is this itty bitty nation known as China who would love to take over Hawaii.

I’m sure we could have an amnesty period for a bit.

Truthfully, the divide in our nation is more urban/rural than anything. Look at Austin, Atlanta, Jackson, Birmingham etc in conservative voting states, but are all bastions of socialism.

Maybe the Megalopolis from Boston to Richmond could be carved out to form its own new state, thus allowing several states to return to sanity.

Lived there as a kid, treated like trash by the locals. When I was in the Navy it was the same.

Went to Hawaii about ‘93 with another couple for 9 days. The residents hate “mainlanders” except for their tourism money and everything is much more expensive because of that money.

Residents living outside of the main tourist areas utilize their local stores and restaurants where purchases are much less costly.

Let them go and become a US Territory like Guam!

The only benefit I can see to Hawaii being part of the US is as a military base.

Agree. ...Let HI leave the US as a State, but keep them as a Territory like Guam, and continue to maintain our military bases in both places.

Also, considering how many HI residents are drawing welfare benefits and unemployment, wouldn’t it save a lot of US taxpayers’ dollars to make them a Territory vice State?

Possibly not. It's my understanding (and I *certainly* could be wrong) that in Puerto Rico a huge percentage of the population is on some kind of welfare and that at least some of that welfare $$$ comes from DC.And given that many (most?) people living in Puerto Rico do *not* pay Federal income taxes that would represent a huge net drain on the US Treasury.

As a born and raised in Hawaii citizen, I say you have drunk too much coconut water.

Absoluitely correct. The revisionist historians have prostituted the rich Hawaii history for their own gain - more US money....and a case of Primo.
