I just clicked your link and read the article, answers the question about recovering the plane.

According to reports from Hawaii, it is likely that we might never determine the actual cause of the crash. The reason? Conditions in this area of the ocean “prohibit” investigators from recovering the plane. There is no intention of recovering the airplane, according to various reports.

If anyone believes that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell him or her. If most of the wreckage of TWA 800 could be recovered from presumably deeper waters, what kind of conditions could prohibit an attempt at this recovery? Somehow, I don't think Hawaiian weather conditions are generally as rough as those off New York.
