Mack Brown, who led the Longhorns to a national championship in 2005, will step down as Texas’ head coach after 16 seasons. The University would not confirm the news and denied that Brown would step down.

Someone needs to tell Saban.... the alumni, boosters, talk radio... etc etc are not going to be any kinder at UT than at Bama. A few loses to Stoops and he’ll be dreaming of those “roll tide” days :) Seriously... all of those big time programs are pretty intense. I know you know.

Well it will take a few years until it reaches that point.....that’s usually when he bails, just ask LSU fans.

I have no idea who they can get to take the job..but I do understand why the new AD may want it done now.

Take a look at their 2014 schedule.

They start with BYU ..and if they lose that game...gawd..

Even if they get by BYU..3 of the next 4 are UCLA, Baylor, and OU..they could start the season 2-4, and that would NOT be pretty..

And, like the Gators, they still don't have a QB for next year..

FYI.. "Burnt Orange Nation has lots of good insider stuff..

I'd remind everyone that ut's troubles all started back with the stupid Longhorn Network. They weren't willing to share the $$ with the others in a Big 8-10-12, whatever network, so Aggies up and left for the SEC..and it's a whole new world..

I attended Indiana University when Lee Corso was “coach.” We would have considered 8-4 to be a wildly successful season. Since then, only Bill Mallory ever came close to that mark.

But Corso was a hoot as a coach, especially his Sunday morning TV show. Once, after a late October upset of Michigan State, he popped out of a coffin and said “We’re not dead yet!” Another time, he had the “Senior of the week” on the show. The poor guy couldn’t spell “cat” if you spotted him the “c” and the “a.” He mumbled something about “playing really hard, coach,” and Corso threw his arm around the kid’s shoulders, looked at the camera and said “he’s a great kid! Somebody give this kid a job!”

If Delos will go ahead and write that check Mac will retire right now.

If a frog had wings
If the dog hadn’t stopped to poop
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts.

If is a BIG word in Fuusbawl.

Why show a picture of Lee Corso? Amazing he could get a TV job after his head coaching stint at Indiana. His W-L-T record as a head coach must be awful.

Not making a comment about the quality of the school, but UT has always been the liberal center of Austin and Texas.
Wind blows just right, I can smell the liberal stench from 2 hours up the road from Austin.

Same with Dick Vitale in college basketball. At least Corso is funny.

Inside information that I’ve heard says an administrative role for Brown and a head coaching job for Saban. This source says that Saban has some very poor investments and his hurting for income. Also ... and this part has been proven as fact ... Mrs. Saban has been house shopping in the Austin area.

Not sure how worthy this is as it came to me second hand, but we’ll see what pans out after the bowl games are over I guess.

He didn’t. Agreed to a contract extension today. He’s staying at Bama.
