It’s not actually the cavitation that breaks the bottle, it’s “water hamer”. It is the collapse of the cavities that accelerates the water column. Cavitation is really not that big a deal, it is simply water boiling under vacuum.

Have kept that tucked away in the event I needed a makeshift funnel...but it hasn't happened yet.
If one is short on water or fluid, a nail or similarly shaped metal can be used for the same result.
