No story, but our Akita will stop whatever he is doing and pay serious attention if one of us sneezes or coughs. If we aren’t feeling well, he will nose us all over, seemingly to satisfy himself that it isn’t serious and then lay down next to whomever is under the weather, checking on them, periodically.

A few years ago Bobo, a rough coated Jack Russel saved our house from catching fire. My husband was napping and Bobo ran up and down the hall from the den to the bedroom, barking frantically until my husband woke up and came to see what was wrong.
A floor plug had shorted out and was shooting sparks and flames up under the sofa. The sofa had already started to burn by the time Bobo got him up.
Bobo was a hero around here until the day he died. Fabulous dog smart and so cute. Good job Bobo RIP!

Sorry, but that guide dog was not a hero from what I saw. All he did was look around. If I looked around noticing a noise and it turned out to be one of these psycho jackasses staring to fire his weapon in the mall, would I be called a hero?
A hero would have at least pushed people out of the way.
Let’s stop dumbing down definitions, and that includes for dogs.
