A coworker told me that Rush has ZERO connection to Pitt, and that his love of the Steelers is as gay as people from North Dakota loving the Yankees, or people from Maine loving the Cowboys. Is this true? Does Rush have zero connections to Pitt?

Rush worked as a DJ at a radio station in Pittsburgh - in the 70’s IIRC. A friend used to live near him.

I’m pretty sure Rush worked at KDKA during the time of the “steel curtain”.

Rush Limbaugh worked there in the 70s when Chaz Noll was shaping the once-woeful Steelers into a dynasty. Here's more about Rush and the 'burgh.

Above, Rush Limbaugh, then known as Jeff Christie as a disk jockey in McKeesport, a town outside of Pittsburgh.
