“Saw the remake of Mechanic sucked big time.”

Yeah...remake of “The Killer Elite” sucked too.

TP: Replace with baby wipes and throw in the garbage.

“Has Hollywood ever made a great remake??”

“An Affair To Remember”
“The Thing”

RE “The Thing”

I remember as a kid, the original black and white scared the hell out of me. LOVED it.

When John Carpenter remade it in 1982, I thought it was THE horror/sci-fi movie of all time (”Aliens” from 1985 and “Predator” from 1987 runs a close second and third to me).

2011 they made the PRE-quel to “The Thing” - this one takes place at the Norwegian ice station, and it absolutely hell on Earth. I thought it was crebibly redone and enjoyed it. It ENDS right where the 1982 version begins - with the Norwegians in the helicopter chasing the dog. Almost seamlessly done.

As for remakes... how about multiple versions of “A Christmas Carol”... my favorite is the George C. Scott version from 1974 (??) time frame. He was great as Scrooge...

Although Michael Caine was good in the Muppets version (yeah, I love that one... so did my kids...)
