A Lakeside man knocked a 13-year-old boy unconscious after his son was elbowed in the face playing football, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said. Back in late October, the man's 10-year-old son was playing football with a group of kids at the city park when he was elbowed in the face during a play. That child went home and told his father, who the Sheriff's office identified as Mark Andrew Colton, 34, of Lakeside. Deputies said Colton went to the field and demanded to know who had hit his son. That's when deputies said a 13-year-old who had not struck the other boy spoke up. Officials said Colton struck the teen in the temple, knocking him unconscious. The boy was transported to Bay Area Hospital, where he was treated for a concussion. After further investigation, the Sheriff's office arrested Colton on Saturday, charging him with second degree assault.

When it comes to kids sports, the parents are the ones who cause the most trouble. I’ve umpired some game between teams of youth around 10-13 years of age. The kids accepted the calls just fine. It was the parents that couldn’t restrain themselves.
I read a follow-up (I think on Drudge) that the Dad clocked the wrong kid. If you’re going to do something stupid, might as well go all the way.
That’s the end of his CCW/CHL, upon conviction, and considering the wacko (but beautiful) lib-dem state, maybe they’ll send a SWAT Team to “collect” all his firearms, too. Stupid move, Colton. Smacking the wrong kid wasn’t terribly bright. Let the boys handle it, themselves. Teach your kid a drop-kick crotch shot.

I don’t care what the color of the attacker is, only how LONG a jail sentence he is going to get (remember it’s Oregon), and how much he is going to have to pay to settle a well-earned lawsuit.
I’d say 5 years IN jail, plus $250,000 sounds like a nice round figure to me.
Hope the victim is okay, no matter what his skin color is.
