All the people in these Ted Talks kind of act the same. I wonder if they are given acting lessons on how to gesture and move before they go on.

They are coached. Some are experienced speakers and others have accomplished something remarkable but have never spoken in public before. There was a great article in HBR recently about helping them prepare: How to Give a Killer Presentation

Yeah, I noticed that as well

And most cases it’s used car salesmanship nonsense.
