Do you think that the first two guys that fired at each other in the first battle of the Civil War, didn't think it was all absurd?

By the time men were squaring off in the fields, pointing rifles at each other, thoughts of how absurd it was for Americans to go to war with one another were long past.

We're in the stage of absurd thoughts today.

OK, so how long? I think we all would feel better if we knew how long from absurd to gunshots.

I am being sincere here. Really I want to know how long before the end of one era and the beginning of the next.
