SAN JOSE A jury on Thursday said that Samsung Electronics would have to pay Apple $290 million more in damages for violating patents, putting an end to one chapter in the long-running patent struggle between the two tech companies.
The six-woman, two-man jury calculated the damages based on 13 products that infringed Apples patents. They determined that two smartphones incurred the heftiest damages: Samsungs Infuse 4G, at about $100 million, and the Droid Charge, at $60 million.
While the price tag will not significantly affect either companys pocketbooks they are two of the most profitable companies in the technology industry the ruling did give Apple another victory in the companies continuing legal fight.

Samsung is a notorious company known for corruption even in South Korea.
Reading this, (and posting), from my Samsung Infuse 4g. Don’t like it as much now.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great phone! But I absolutely hate apple and the thought that there might be some apple tech in it, somewhat diminishes it in my opinion.
“Violating patents”
Remember how some people patent the most ludicrous things.
“Push this touch screen here and the application loads full screen” can be patented.
Probably the best call. Most of the computer patents suits are pure nonsense. Even worse are the “monopoly” suits where the EU or Eric the Corrupt sue a large manufacturer and force them to license their patents to a loser competitor.
I remember patent suits over the look of things on the screen. As if someone could patent squares or something.
