Market forces.

Our FM “conservative” talk station plays nothing but Mexican oompah pah music now.

AM is beyond redemption. Even if one has a such a desire, Limbaugh has been gone for ages.

But who under 65 listens to radio any more?

Boston (and New England) also has Howie Carr, etc. Though Boston’s WRKO is the only full time talk station in town (WBZ is just at night). There have been efforts like web/smartphone only Boston Herald Radio, which offers (cons) politics and one sports show 9am-9pm, an outgrowth of the paper.

Howie Carr is excellent. I heard him filling in for Mark Levin earlier this month.

1360 in Pittsburgh was losing gushers of money. The owner donated it to a church and took the write-off at full book value.

It is back on the air now, playing gospel music.

I have a new vehicle with XM and free trial subscription. I’m really shocked that there is not more conservative talk radio. I can get Levin on the Patriot channel though - at his normal broadcast time. Limbaugh doesn’t seem to be available, or is he?

What is your point in posting a picture of Sean Hannity’s home?

Re 1360 AM, thanks for the info.

Now the tough question. My Pittsburgh relatives miss Laura Ingraham and Mark Levin more than they miss me. Are you aware of any Pittsburgh radio station that is now airing Ingraham and Levin?

Rush has never been on satellite radio, at least so far as I know.

My understanding is that such is his choice. He gets the big paycheck from the AM dial syndicate boys, whoever it happens to be, in exchange for AM exclusivity.

You can always get him on the internet which I have done in hotel rooms, etc., and probably also on your cell phone, though that would be beyond my technical abilities-—lol.

His talk show is a snooze fest....kind of painful actually.

Laura Ingraham is not on anyplace else in the market so far as I know.

Now that the sun is down by the time his show starts, I listen to Levin on 77 WABC out of New York. Locally he is only on two very fringe stations. 640 WHLO out of Canton, Ohio, and 1200 WKST out of New Castle. Neither comes in well at my house. Hoping some other local station will pick them up.

He also streams on his website, and has a cell phone app available.

Rush not only does not have his show on satellite, he actively discourages local stations from running it at any time other than 12-3 Eastern.

I used to tune in a couple of AM’s late at night and listen to a replay if I missed him during the day. He put a stop to that. Gotta sell subscriptions to the website, ya know.

You all know about iHeartRadio? You can get any of the syndicated shows over the internet, Levin, Beck, Rush, Hannity, etc. at various times during the day.

Do you have iHeartRadio? I have it on my computer and my Kindle. I can pick up stations all around the country. It allows me to get Mark Levin after my AM station cuts power at dusk.

Shoot, Buckeye, you’re a guy I respect (I usually lurk on the GunTalk threads lol)...but everybody else likes to get what they can for their product, right?

I would guess that part of it also might be loyalty to his primary stations. If there are Rush broadcasts at all hours of the day and night, that would likely cut down the market heft of the stations that broadcast him live.

Just a thought, best regards...

Paid off? If conservatives are the enemy of the Federal government, as DHS has stated, the easiest way to beat your enemy is to pay them off. Hitler paid off/made deals with French generals (Marshal Petain), the US government paid off Iraqi generals to stand down.

Harrison said Cumulus will promote personalities like Michael Savage, who he says has tempered his performance amid concerns over being hyper-partisan to a more populist presentation, using softer subjects and more humor.

I stopped listening to Savage in 2006, because of his support for Jerry "Governor Moonbeam" Brown.

If that’s Rush’s business model he’s certainly entitled. I just miss being able to listen to something other than George Noory on AM at that hour. He’s the only guy who has that sort of pull with the stations so far as I can see.
