Interesting factoid about "Casablanca".it was being filmed towards the end of 1942..scheduled for release mid 43...when the news leaked about the upcoming Casablanca conference in Jan 1943, the studio rushed the production. Some say that you can see where they took short-cuts. It was released about 2 weeks after the conference. Talk about great timing..
"Casablanca opened in New York on November 26, 1942. That was almost 3 weeks after the invasion of North Africa. I didn't know that word of Operation Torch was leaked. Maybe the studio decided on the rush job after the fact.
