Oh the huge Mantee!
Robinson Crusoe on Mars was one of my all time favorite movies.
RIP.
I can’t think of too many other “careers” that people can stitch together a living out of working a few hours a year.

Rest in peace

For a second I thought it said Paul McCartney. Gee, I guess “going veggie” ain’t good.
RIP.

Always see him in old reruns of 60s shows like “The FBI” and such. Usually in rather minor, secondary roles. But, he was always a familiar face, and “Robinson Crusoe on Mars” gave him a touch of fame. It was a really nifty, endearing, little sci-fi film. Not as well-known as some others, but people who have seen it always have nice memories and opinions of it.
RCOM really rates high as an iconic science fiction film. In the 1960s, there was about one or two really unforgettable films a year.
1960 The Time Machine
1961 Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
1962 -
1963 X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
1964 First Men in the Moon; Robinson Crusoe on Mars
1965 Crack in the World; Planet of the Vampires
1966 Fahrenheit 451; Fantastic Voyage
1967 Quatermass and the Pit
1968 2001: A Space Odyssey; Barbarella; Planet of the Apes
1969 The Illustrated Man
Interesting tidbit that he played in the Batman TV series because Adam West was in R.C.O.M. too. I remember seeing that flick at the Capitol theater in Ashland,Ky. when it was first released.
