Duval County School Board members voted unanimously Friday to start the process that likely would remove the name Nathan B. Forrest from one of its high schools.
All seven board members voted to formally accept the written request of District 5 board member Constance Hall to begin the name-change procedure.

They’ll spend a lot on the new bumper stickers:
“My Chile is an Honer Student at Ooga-click-Booga Hi Skoo”
BS. I bet 75% of the blacks in GW high school couldn’t tell you who GW was, much less that he owned a cow.
They should file a DBA
In Dallas TX that costs $14

Do you still call the Washington Wizards the Washington Bullets?
Remember that this NBA team deleted the name “Bullets” because of the owner not wanting to be associated with gun violence.
bump
They named the school after an African king.
Was that African King one of the ones that sold other blacks into slavery?
From the article: “Vitti said a study done in 2008, when the board last voted against changing the name, estimated the costs at $570,000, but Vitti said hes unsure of the costs now.”
did he have 20 wives and hundreds of slaves/servants?
And, of course, the African king never owned slaves, right? Right???
I admit, I searched to see what their mascot was. They are not what I’d hope for but are the Rebels. You know that will be the next change. No telling how much changing every athletic sign, school t-shirt, sports and band uniforms, repaint the buses, change the letterhead, repaint the school’s “Be a Rebel” mural, etc. Maybe they can call Moochelle to get a recommendation for a software company to change their website, too.
Surely, there's a law suit being filed by upset wizards who had their feelings hurt, huh?
Whites are fools.
The US Navy will no longer use the term “alee”, as in “Put the helm hard alee”.
Approved replacement terms are “a-grant” or a-sherman”.
or ate them....
I don't call them anything. For all I knew, they could have been a lacrosse team.
I wonder how many households in that district are picking up the tab.
My grandparents and parents were born there and were buried there, along with a slew of my other ancient to contemporary relatives.
Good luck resolving that via political correctness.
I still refer to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Cesar Chavez Blvd. in this town as "Thomas" and "Cactus" streets, respectively.
Name Change: Bin Laden High
And as far as I'm concerned, they're still Cassius Clay, Lew Alcindor, and Cat Stevens too!
