“Mr. Lurie once did 1,665 push-ups in 90 minutes”

I think I might be able to do that in 90 hours...maybe.

Not sure if you’re interested, but here’s a website with tons of old strength/fitness material.

1600 pushups in 90 minutes? I did 20 pushups in 40 seconds with the encouragement of several Ft Knox DI’s.On a number of occasions,in fact.

Not as recognizable a name as Charles Atlas, Joe Weider, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Ferrigno ...
I'd add Jack LaLanne to that list.

I was trained by Ron Lacy, Mr. America 1957. He was in his late 60’s early 70’s during that time. He also refused to sign up with Weider.

This was in Lexington, KY. The Lexington Herald Leader visited each year, take a look at the photos.

He was a humble and good man, a deacon in his church, father of 2 sons. He had a ton of stories of those times.

His warm up bench press for reps was 240 at the age of 70.

He trained during that time 6 preachers and one heathen. I was the heathen. I am no longer a heathen largely due to him. R.I.P.
