But chances are that if an animal had been trained to do something whimsically human, the animal—or the technique—came from Hot Springs.<\i>

Bill Clinton also, in fact.

B.F. Skinner was a genius. I’m surprised they didn’t mention one of his more ambitious projects, but one that might have changed the outcome of WWII - the use of trained pidgeons to guide missiles to their target. It wasn’t PETA but rather a lack of confidence that precluded the use of “smart munitions” for another 50 years.

Interesting, but I wish this report had not come out. The muzzies already kill tagged migrating birds because they think they are spying for the Israelis, now they will read this and be convinced they are right.

**** it would be a typical day at the I.Q. Zoo, one of the touristic palaces that dotted the streets of Hot Springs, Arkansas, in the 1960s.***

Been there seen that in 1964. This was after the government cleaned up Hot Springs and closed the open casinos.

We didn't make any effort to train our cats, but they learned that when my wife put on her apron, she was going to cook a meal, and they'd head for the kitchen looking for a treat.

the U.S. government deployed nonhuman operatives—ravens, pigeons, even cats—to spy on cold war adversaries

What does he mean, "even" cats?
