So Hobbes - what is your take on the miami hazing deal? Do you think, as I do, that this is a widespread, accepted practice in the NFL and incognito is going to be the scapegoat since it leaked out?

Lets start with the one known fact.

Incognito is a known scumbag on the field.

Suspended 2x at Nebraska, had to leave.

Kicked off Oregon.

Sporting news poll of 99 players had him as dirtiest player in the league.

The voicemail speaks for itself.

The “toughen him up” and subsequent leaks appear to come from his reps.

He’s over 30, and probably now out of football.

Miami will cut him, and the racial epithets will make him toxic to the only team that might take him, Oakland.

I think “hazing” — which is very different from real harassment/abuse — is very common in the NFL, and includes such things as making the rookies carry the veterans’ pads to and from the practice field, making them sing each other’s college fight songs at meals or meetings, or possibly making them pick up the tab for a meal at the restaurant. But I don’t believe that the stuff that Incognito is alleged to have done that crosses the line way beyond just hazing is commonplace or accepted.
